This has lofty origins for a sci-fi movie: a tale by Hugo-winning author Philip K. Dick, whose novel, "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" inspired the lauded, influential dystopian flick "Blade Runner." But ultimately, "Impostor" is little more than a genre film — albeit a high-grade, fast-moving one blessed by seamless computer effects and a strong cast. Leading the way is Gary Sinise ("Forrest Gump") as Spencer Olham, a scientist working on a weapons project to aid Earth in a devastating late-21st-century space war with aggressors from Alpha Centauri. But government agent Hathaway (Vincent D'Onofrio of "The Cell") believes the Centaurians replaced the real Spencer with a perfectly replicated version programmed to assassinate Earth's chancellor. So Spencer must prove he's not the replicant to his best friend (Tony Shalhoub of "The Man Who Wasn't There"), his wife (Madeleine Stowe of "12 Monkeys"), Hathaway and himself before tragedy strikes. Think "The Fugitive" questioning his humanity....
