Not since Anthony Hopkins and Chris Rock co-starred in the moronic "thriller" "Bad Company" has there been such an unlikely on-screen team as Oscar perennial Jack Nicholson and lowbrow clown Adam Sandler in the uneven odd-couple comedy "Anger Management." Try as they might, Jack and Adam don't pull it off, being hamstrung by a spotty script with too few laughs, set-ups that fall flat and a farfetched resolution. Sandler is Dave, a harmless, low-key guy stuck in a court-mandated anger-management program after an in-flight misunderstanding. The judge orders Dave to counseling by Dr. Buddy Rydell, a hare-brained quack with a hair-trigger temper. Played with relish by jolly Jack, Buddy shows up at Dave's door, insists that they move in together and starts to drive the hapless Dave over the wall. Trying to cope with Buddy's aberrant behavior and provoked by the doc's other patients, Dave starts to lose it himself. Even Dave's patient girlfriend (Marisa Tomei) begins to waver in her devotion to him. A super supporting cast (John Turturro, Luis Guzman, etc.) and surprise cameos (Heather Graham, Woody Harrelson, John C. Reilly, etc.) are fun, but not enough.
