It played like a flashy throwaway (the movie equivalent of a fake Rolex), but the 2001 remake of the Rat Pack's early-'60s Vegas heist flick "Ocean's Eleven" was obviously a romp for the big-time actors who stood in for the first movie's hipster thieves: Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. and pals. George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Julia Roberts led the all-stars in the update. As they went through their cooler-than-cool paces, nothing dispelled the impression that it was a greater blast for the cast than for the audience. Now, they've done a sequel, "Ocean's Twelve," that's more fun to watch than "Ocean's Eleven," maybe because the viewer is totally in on the joke now. Tracked down and given two weeks — or else! — to repay millions to the casino owner they ripped off in "Eleven," Danny Ocean (Clooney) and the gang head across the Atlantic to find their latest marks. What's not to like about snazzy Euro locations (Rome and Amsterdam); cast additions that include alluring Catherine Zeta-Jones, UK comic Eddie Izzard and French leading man Vincent Cassel; surprise guest stars; clever, complex capers; and loads of self-deprecating wit? Director Steven Soderbergh keeps things percolating. Toss in bits from Andy Garcia, Don Cheadle, Bernie Mac, Elliot Gould, Carl Reiner and the rest, and "Twelve" is that rarity: unabashed, frivolous entertainment for adults. The soundtrack swings, too.
